THE MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL heats up for an all-day Saturday Lackawanna Block Party, a not-to-be-missed "mini-fest" double header with a Family Jazz Discovery Zone and food + artisan vendors.
Starting at 12 noon, the stage will showcase 160+ emerging musicians from 5 states and 6 continents who participated in the 2-week award-winning JAZZ HOUSE Summer Workshop held on the campus of Montclair State University – our biggest group ever!
Then, at 4:30 PM, stage host NICOLE SWEENEY from Newark’s WBGO introduces trailblazing guitarist CHARLIE SIGLER and his quartet who is then followed by one of the most vibrant artists on the scene today, ENDEA OWENS & The Cookout at 6:00 PM.

Capping off the evening at 7:30 PM, we’ll get our groove on for an inter-generational boogie fest and one of the largest street dance parties Montclair has ever seen, featuring DJ BROTHER MISTER, aka CHRISTIAN McBRIDE. All night long, he'll be spinning and mixing classic favorites on original vinyl from what he considers the "sweet spot" of dance music, the 1960s to 1990s, and often playing along, embellishing the bass line with his masterful skill.

Get into the Zone! The Family Jazz Discovery Zone is a special place where kids and their families can gather to play, improvise, create, make new friends and of course, share our passion for jazz.
Bring your appetite (and some spending money).
Saturday's Block Party will also feature food and artisan vendors, the Jazz Beverage Garden featuring our soon-to-be-revealed 2023 Jazz Fest brew from Montclair Brewery, and the Dexter Gordon Open Air Lounge for Friends of the Festival and Take 5 Supporters.
